Riding Lessons

At HM Riding Academy, our riding lesson program is perfect for teens and young adults, but welcomes all ages. Each week, riders enjoy private, hour-long lessons where they learn everything from horse care and handling to riding skills. Our fantastic instructor provides personalized guidance tailored to each rider's level. We also sprinkle in fun facts about horses to deepen the experience. Whether you're a beginner or looking to improve your skills, come join us for an enriching journey into the world of horseback riding!

Why Us?

If you’re looking to explore the world of horseback riding in a supportive, educational, and welcoming setting, you’ve come to the right place. Our program stands out because we focus not just on riding, but on creating well-rounded equestrians who understand both horse and rider needs and the responsibilities of horse care.

01

Safety First

Your safety and the well-being of our horses are our top priorities. Our facilities are well maintained, ensuring a safe and friendly environment for all.

02

A Nurturing Approach

Holly, our lead instructor, is known for her kindness, patience, and deep knowledge of horsemanship. Whether you're a child or an adult, a beginner or someone with riding experience, Holly’s approachable teaching style will help you feel comfortable and confident as you learn.

03

Comprehensive Lessons

Our structured lessons include both groundwork and riding. This dual focus helps build a solid foundation for all our students, ensuring that they not only learn how to ride but also understand the full spectrum of caring for and communicating with horses.

04

Community & Support

Join a community of like-minded individuals who share your passion for horses. Our program is a place where lasting friendships are formed, providing ongoing support and camaraderie among riders of all ages.

05

Flexible Learning Opportunities

We recognize that everyone’s journey is unique. Our program is tailored to meet you where you are in your learning process, with plenty of opportunities for growth and exploration in a stress-free environment.

06

Beyond the Lessons

We encourage our students to engage with horse care and riding outside of their scheduled lessons through additional educational materials and activities. This not only enhances your learning experience but also deepens your connection to the equestrian world.

"Holly is an amazing instructor. I am 32 year old ammy coming off a very long break of horses and getting back into the hunter/jumper arena.
Every lesson I have taken, Holly has walked me through my frustrations and helped me calm down and regather. She is so kind and knowledgeable and every successful moment my little mare and I have together, Holly celebrates with us. My body has limitations and Holly has only ever supported me and my pony - never once has said something harsh or unkind like some trainers have in the past. She is incredibly empathetic and kind and her goal is to build you up.
Holly is great with kids, as I have seen at Skunk, but she's also great for us adults, too! I absolutely recommend 100%. She is knowledgeable in teaching the beginners and the more advanced riders, as well!"

WELCOME TO HM RIDING ACADEMY

  • What ages do you teach?
We welcome students of all ages, but our riding lessons are especially catered to teens and adults.
  • Do you teach on the weekends?
We have very few open weekend spots. We are usually busy with other programs or shows!
  • What do I need to get started?
Boots and long pants - these are the only things required on day 1 of taking lessons. However, we do require our students to get their own helmet within the first few lessons after they have been properly fitted for one.
  • Can lessons come to me?
Absolutely! We can provide lessons either at our barn or yours! If you choose yours though, you must have your own horse as our horses do not travel.
  • What disciplines do you teach?
We teach both English and Western! Most lessons are based in flat work, but we can provide instruction in jumping, western gaming, and basic dressage as well. We can also work in trail riding skills too!
